I’ve been reading Master of Reality, the Black Sabbath installment of the 33 1/3 series. Sabbath is one of my all-time favorite bands and it seems that John Darnielle of the Mountain Goats is a fan, too. He wrote the book.
It’s written as the diary of a 15-year-old boy in a mental institution who really wants his tapes back, and the letters of the adult he turns out to be. I read it on the train and since I don’t have an iPod, I sing along the songs in my head, just like he does. It’s really gotten me into music again.
On another note, I once knew a woman named Sweet Leaf.
