Recently I’ve had houses on the mind. Specifically, I think it’s about time I give in, grow up and get some real furniture. While my wallet isn’t cooperating quite yet, my mind has been filled with ideas about how Future Heather should decorate her nest. As if they’ve been reading my mind, today Rizzoli sent me info on their latest: Frank Gehry: The Houses.

Ghery’s homes, including his own (above), include some of his earliest architectural experiments. And with their slapdash style and crappy materials — and I mean that in the best way — they stand in stark contrast to the glossy, monumental works for which he’s best known. To be honest, I’m still not sure how I feel about Gehry. But I’d never seen this side of the architect before, and this has gone a long way to warming me up.
